Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters: Rugby League: Luke Keary unveils Brisbane Broncos blame wheel – Luke Keary has put the Brisbane Broncos’ season under the microscope on The Agenda Setters: Rugby League, unveiling his own blame wheel after the club’s eighth consecutive loss.
The Channel 7 and 7plus Sport program brings rugby league discussion into Seven’s wider sports line-up, with Corey Parker, David Riccio, Aaron Woods and Keary breaking down the biggest NRL talking points.
For viewers following the Broncos’ slide, Keary’s segment gave the debate a sharp television hook. Rather than pointing at one person, he spread responsibility across coaches, players, club figures, decisions and even the team’s graphic design.
Keary Spins The Broncos Blame Wheel
Keary told the panel he had conducted his own review of Brisbane’s season and introduced what he called the Broncos blame wheel.
Head coach Michael Maguire was given the largest share, with Keary saying the coach had to take 20 per cent because he is in charge of the club’s football program.
Payne Haas was given 15 per cent after his decision to leave the club, while Brisbane’s younger stars, including Reece Walsh, Pat Carrigan and Ezra Mam, were also assigned 15 per cent because Keary argued they had not reached previous standards.
Corey Parker Drawn Into The Debate
The discussion began with Riccio asking Parker whether he would consider helping the Broncos if the opportunity came up.
Parker said he loved the club and would put his hand up if Brisbane believed he was the right person for a role. However, he said any appointment had to be made for the betterment of the football club rather than ego or personal connection.
Keary then placed Parker on the blame wheel at five per cent, pointing to Parker’s commentary about the Broncos on SEN. Parker’s inclusion kept the segment direct, personal and firmly tied to Brisbane’s wider rugby league conversation.
A Wider Broncos Review
The blame wheel also included Ben Te’o, Adam Reynolds, Ben Hunt, recruitment figure Simon Scanlan, chief executive Dave Donaghy, the Toowoomba camp, Gorden Tallis and the club’s graphic design team.
Keary’s breakdown was delivered as a television segment, but it reflected the scale of the scrutiny around Brisbane after a run of losses that has put the club’s season under heavy pressure.
