My Kitchen Rules: nurses Mary and Golden bring Filipino food to Channel 7 – Best friends and nurses Mary and Golden are ready to put the vibrant flavours of their Filipino heritage on the table when My Kitchen Rules returns to Channel 7 and 7plus.
The pair met while studying nursing in the Philippines before moving to Australia in 2004 in search of a better life. Their MKR journey will put friendship, food and the stories behind their family recipes at the centre of the competition.
Mary and Golden’s introduction continues the gradual unveiling of the teams who will shape the coming My Kitchen Rules season. Their focus on Filipino cooking adds another distinct food story to the line-up, while the pair hope to share the warmth and generosity of their culture with Australian viewers.
Cooking with heart
Mary says Filipino food is underrated and deserves more attention. She says sharing their cuisine, culture and roots on MKR is a way to thank Australia for giving them a new home.
Golden says she wants Australians to experience Filipino cuisine in all its forms and see how hospitable, generous and caring Filipinos are. Her calm, grounded nature balances Mary’s infectious energy as they prepare to bring their heritage to every plate.
