The Agenda Setters Rugby League on Channel 7: Jai Arrow thanks Rabbitohs for support – Jai Arrow has opened up about the support he continues to receive from South Sydney as he remains closely connected to the Rabbitohs while living with motor neurone disease.
Appearing on The Agenda Setters Rugby League on Channel 7 and 7plus, Arrow spoke with Corey Parker, David Riccio, Aaron Woods and Luke Keary about his daily routine at South Sydney and the role the club continues to play in his life.
The interview gives rugby league fans another personal insight into Arrow’s resilience and the support network around him. For Channel 7, the discussion also underlines how The Agenda Setters Rugby League is positioning itself around the game’s biggest stories with the people directly connected to them.
Asked by Keary about the support he receives from South Sydney, Arrow said he is still at the club most days. He explained that his routine includes meals prepared through the cafe at the club, Pilates, bike sessions, gym work, massage, ice baths and sauna recovery.
Arrow said being around the playing group remains important to him, adding that he still spends time eating, training and joking with the Rabbitohs players.
Parker also asked Arrow about the wider influence he now has in the community. Arrow said he does not feel pressure because he has made a choice to keep trying to make a difference.
The former Queensland and Australian representative said the diagnosis has been harder on his family than it has been on him, but he is focused on staying present for them.
“I get that there will be a time when it’s going to be hard for me to even walk, talk and even do simple things like pick up my daughter,” Arrow said. “But until then, I make sure that I’m present with them and make sure that I’m their brother and their son.”
The conversation also turned to Wayne Bennett, Cody Walker and the Rabbitohs’ run towards the finals. Arrow said there is belief within the South Sydney group if the club can keep its senior players healthy.
The Agenda Setters Rugby League features Parker, Riccio, Woods and Keary discussing the major rugby league issues of the week. The Jai Arrow interview aired during Monday night’s episode, with Seven providing a 7.42pm AEDT timestamp for the comments.
