7plus soars in July as audience climbs 80% and takes top spot – The 7plus audience grew 80.3% in July as the platform became Australia’s most-watched commercial free-to-air streaming service for the month.
According to figures released by Seven, 7plus secured a 49% share of commercial broadcast video-on-demand viewing. It ranked first for both live streaming, with a 49.5% share, and on-demand viewing, with 48.2%.
The result shows how Seven is using major live sport alongside news and established entertainment programs to build a broader streaming audience. July’s growth was not tied to one genre, with the Commonwealth Games, reality television, drama and daily news all contributing.
Glasgow 2026 Leads July Viewing
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games were the standout performer. The event averaged 62,000 viewers on 7plus, which Seven said was 528% higher than the streaming audience for the Birmingham Games in 2022.
Glasgow 2026 had reached 3.3 million people on 7plus by the time the July figures were compiled. Additional digital coverage also found an audience. The Australia versus England netball pop-up stream on 26 July averaged 185,000 viewers, while Australia versus Tonga on 25 July averaged 92,000.
Farmer Wants A Wife was another major contributor, lifting its 7plus audience by 79% year-on-year during July.
Biggest Month In 7plus History
Seven said July was the biggest month in the history of 7plus. Its live-streaming audience grew 105% compared with July 2025.
The platform has now been the most-watched commercial BVOD service for eight of the past 12 months. Across the first seven months of 2026, its total audience increased 53.5% compared with the same period last year.
Live viewing rose 75.5% across that seven-month period. Meanwhile, on-demand viewing increased 23.6%.
“July was the biggest month in 7plus history and another clear demonstration of how Australians are embracing free streaming across live sport, news and entertainment,” Seven’s Director of 7plus Content and Strategy, Andrew Green, said.
Green said the Commonwealth Games attracted large audiences, while Farmer Wants A Wife, Home and Away, 7NEWS and Sunrise also delivered strong results.
