Screen Producers Australia launches Producer Fellowship – Screen Producers Australia has launched the inaugural SPA Producer Fellowship, a six-month mentoring and market access program for mid-career Australian producers.
The program will help producers grow their businesses. It will also support international partnerships and projects built for the global marketplace.
For TV Central readers, the announcement matters. Producer development affects the next wave of Australian television, film and screen projects. The Fellowship targets producers with recognised credits who are ready to expand overseas.
What The Fellowship Offers
Screen Producers Australia says the SPA Producer Fellowship will combine mentoring, networking and direct industry access. Participants will receive six months of one-on-one mentorship. They will also join an online European co-production incubator.
Fellows will take part in Global Connect at SCREEN FOREVER. The event connects Australian producers with international producers. Fellows will also receive curated one-on-one meetings with international guests.
The program includes early access to the Partnerships Forum and Pitch Meetings at SCREEN FOREVER. It also includes SPA Masterclass access, industry introductions, profile support and a 50 per cent discount on a Gold Coast 3-Day Badge.
Who Can Apply
Applications are open to Australian mid-career producers. Applicants need at least two lead producer credits on projects with significant national or international recognition.
Applicants must also be developing a project seeking an international co-production partner. Applications close on Sunday, 6 September 2026.
SPA Says Global Connections Are Critical
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said Australian producers are creating world-class screen stories. However, long-term success increasingly depends on strong international relationships and new opportunities beyond Australia.
Deaner said the Fellowship gives accomplished producers useful connections, mentoring and strategic support. The goal is to help them build sustainable businesses and take Australian productions to the world.
Screen Producers Australia says it represents more than 700 members across feature film, television and immersive content. Its members contribute to more than $1.2 billion in annual independent production activity.
