Christopher Nolan’s mythic action epic
Universal Pictures describes The Odyssey as a mythic action epic shot across the world with new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to cinemas on a huge scale.
The studio also says the film is the first feature shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. That makes the release a major technical milestone as well as a high-profile literary adaptation.
Nolan directs the film, while Emma Thomas produces. Together, they continue a long-running creative partnership that includes Oppenheimer, Tenet, Dunkirk and Interstellar.
The Odyssey opens in Australian cinemas from Thursday, 16 July 2026.
Australian moviegoers can find official cinema information for The Odyssey via the film’s official site.
