Mollie O’Callaghan wins Glasgow 2026 gold as Lani Pallister takes silver – Mollie O’Callaghan has overcome a back injury to win gold in the women’s 200m freestyle at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Lani Pallister claimed silver for Australia, adding to the gold medal she won in the women’s 400m freestyle on the opening night.
The one-two result gave Seven and 7plus Sport another major Australian swimming story. It also turned O’Callaghan’s difficult build-up into one of the Games’ early headline moments.

Pallister challenged O’Callaghan through the third 50 metres, but O’Callaghan found enough in the final lap to reach the wall first in 1:54.66.
The back injury might not be an issue for Mollie O’Callaghan here as she’s going to go in and claim gold.

Pallister praised O’Callaghan after the race, saying her training partner had endured a rough year and continued to show why she is among the world’s best.
A tough road to gold
Speaking to Giaan Rooney, O’Callaghan said simply being at the Games was a privilege after her injury concerns before trials.

O’Callaghan said it was not her best swim, but the gold medal capped a resilient performance after a disrupted preparation.
