TOTAL TV – Total People
Seven News at 6:30 was #1 with 1,038 000, a rise of 3%. Seven News was #2 with 1,014 000, an upswing of 3%. The Seven News hour was the only program to attract more than 1 million Australians. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 3 was #6 overall, but #1 non news with 683 000. Due to Seven not carrying BVOD rights for 7plus, there was no rise in Total TV. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 2 was #8 with 583 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Dinner was #11 with 487 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Tea was #12 with 445 000. Sunrise was #15 overall, but #1 at breakfast with 389 000, a lift of 5%. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 1 was #16 with 385 000. Sunrise – Early was #28 with 260 000, an increase of 5%.
Nine News was #3 with 905 000, a boost of 4%. Nine News 6:30 was #4 with 905 000, growth of 4%. A Current Affair was #5 overall, but #1 in its slot with 760 000, strengthening its overnights by 5%. Hot Seat was #10 with 498 000, bolstering its audience by 3%. Paramedics was #13 with 442 000, an upsurge of 14%. Great Getaways was #14 with 421 000, an improvement of 6%. Nine’s Afternoon News was #17 with 374 000, expanding its audience by 2%. Love Island Australia Thursday started with 32 000 on 9GO in overnights but rose 669% to be the #18 show overall with 369 000 viewers. Tipping Point was #19 with 352 000, an enhancement of 6%. Hot Seat – 5pm was #20 with 327 000, an uplift of 3%. Today was #26 with 281 000, up 8%. Police After Dark was #27 with 270 000, a rise of 8%.
10 News First was #21 with 320 000, an upswing of 3%. The Project 7pm was #22 with 308 000, a lift of 4%. Jamie’s One Pan Wonders was #23 with 298 000, an increase of 7%. The Bold and the Beautiful was #29 with 250 000, a boost of 5%.
ABC News was #7 with 590 000, growth of 4%. 730 was #9 with 580 000, strengthening its overnights by 7%. A repeat of You Can’t Ask That was #25 with 291 000, bolstering its audience by 4%. News Breakfast was #30 with 234 000, an upsurge of 6%. This figure does not include those watching on ABC News.
Costco: Is It Really Worth It? was #24 for SBS with 292 000, an upsurge of 12%.
TOTAL TV – 25-54
Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 3 was #2 overall, just behind Seven News at 6:30, with 221 000. Love Island Australia Thursday was #4 with 205 000, an improvement of 659%, which is extraordinary, given the show airs to a small crowd on 9GO. Commentators are quick to write off ratings for The Project, but the show does very well in the demos. It was #11 in 25-54 with 127 000, expanding its audience by 6%. Survivor 43 entered the charts at #26 with 80 000 viewers, an enhancement of 208%.
OVERNIGHT RATINGS
Analysis
Seven News was #1 with a clean sweep across the 5 capital city metro markets. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 and was almost a clean sweep, except there was a tie in Sydney. Seven’s Cricket : Big Bash League – Brisbane Heat v Melbourne Renegades was #10 with 274 000.
Nine News was #2 with no metro market wins. Nine News 6:30 was #4 with a tie in Sydney, which was fairly extraordinary given that Seven News Sydney won the 6pm half hour by 41 000 viewers. A Current Affair was #6 overall, but #2 in its slot behind ABC News with 469 000 viewers. 2022 FINA World Short Course Championships was #13 with 241 000. There were split markets across Australia due to the live coverage of the swimming, but in whatever slot it aired, the final Nine News Late for 2022 was watched by 135 000.
The Project 6:30pm had an audience of 149 000, however that rose to 220 000 for The Project 7pm. 10 aired the special, Jamie’s One Pan Christmas to 215 000 viewers. Crossfire aired its double episode season final, which was watched by 156 000 viewers.
ABC News was #5 overall, but #1 in its slot. 730 was #7 with 450 000 viewers. A repeat of You Can’t Ask That was on 239 000. A repeat of Dinosaur Apocalypse with David Attenborough was viewed by 188 000.
2022 FIFA World Cup Semi Final: France and Morocco (Live) was watched by 339 000 and placed #9 overall. Post match coverage of the same game was #20 with 197 000.

7two’s winning performance started with Father Brown, the #1 multi channel show with 108 000 viewers. Kavanagh QC had 68 000 viewers. The often forgotten Bargain Hunt, always contributes to 7two’s overall strong nightly share, this time with 71 000 fans.
The Bond movie nights have been hugely popular with 9Gem this year with A View to Kill #4 overall with 94 000 viewers. The Living Daylights and A Licence to Kill are still to come over the next two nights.
