Although the survey year has finished, Total TV is still calculating the final week of survey and as such TV Central will hold off its final ratings report until next week. For last Sunday, the #1 program around Australia was Kath and Kim: Our Effluent Life which was watched by 1,402 000 viewers and was up 18% on its overnight number. Seven News Sunday was #2 with 1,343 000, up 3%. Australia’s Got Talent – Grand Final ended its season with 941 000 viewers and saw an increase of 12%. Greatest ABBA Cover Versions Ever was #19 with 278 000 and saw its audience increase by 9%. Weekend Sunrise – Sunday was #12 for the night, beating a number of shows in primetime with 360 000, which was an uplift of 3%. Weekend Sunrise – Sunday Early was #21 with 270 000 and was up 3%. Seven News at 5 was #13 with 346 000 and was up 2%. The afternoon repeat of Border Security: Australia’s Front Line landed at #30 with 219 000 and was up 4%.
Nine News Sunday was #3 in the Top 30 rankings for last Sunday with 1,021 000 and was up 4%. The Lego Masters Bricksmas special part 1 was #4 with 992 000 and was up 22%. 60 Minutes was #8 with 632 000 viewers, which saw its audience increase by 13%. Nine News Late Sunday was #14 with a strong 60 Minutes lead in for 343 000 viewers and was up 4%. Nine News: First at Five was #18 and sat behind the 7 and 10 bulletin with 281 000, up 3%. Weekend Today – Sunday was at #25 with 250 000 viewers and increased its audience by 5%.
The Sunday Project 7pm was best for 10 at #15 with 334 000 viewers, which was an uplift of 4%. The Sunday Project 6:30pm was #20 with 271 000 and was up 6%. 10 News First – Sunday was #17 with 286 000 and increased its audience by 3%. The Graham Norton Show disappointed, but had increased competition on 7 and 9 with 227 000 and an uptick of 12%.
ABC News Sunday was tops for the national broadcaster at #6 with 651 000 and was up 4%. Even in repeat mode, Death in Paradise is performing strongly being at #7 for the night with 640 000, an increase of 7%. Significant Others ended its season with 459 000 to be #10 for the night and significantly (!) increased its audience by 45%. Insiders had a strong morning at #9 with 509 000 viewers and was up 18%. Landline also proved to be strong at #11 with 437 000 viewers, an uptick of 9%. Offsiders was #23 with 256 000 and was up 8%. The special, Freddie Mercury: The Final Act had 258 000 for its repeat, and was up 14%. ABC News at Noon was #24 with 253 000, up 2%. An encore of Gardening Australia was on 230 000 viewers to reach #27 and was up 1%. Antiques Roadshow had 229 000 fans, was #28 and was up 5%.
SBS had two entries in the Top 30 with Saving Venice at #16 with 295 000 viewers, seeing an increase of 11%. SBS World News was #26 with 246 000 and was up 2%.

Analysis
Last night, was the first night out of survey with the summer season now in full force. Networks are claiming that they program all year round and the ‘survey period’ is essentially redundant. However, the networks combined could make the decision to eliminate this practice, but have yet chosen not to.
Seven News Sunday was the #1 program overall last night with 809 000 viewers with wins in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. A repeat of 7News Spotlight was #8 with 412 000 viewers. The new season premiere of Motorway Patrol was #14 with 225 000 viewers, The movie, Salt had an audience of 197 000. The AFLW Grand Final had an audience of 212 000.
Nine News Sunday was #2 for the night with 723 000 and had a win in Melbourne. The second part of the Lego Masters Bricksmas special was on 569 000 and easily won its slot. 60 Minutes was #6 with 430 000. Nine News Late Sunday was on 234 000.
The Sunday Project 6:30pm was on 202 000 to land at #20 but that audience increased for The Sunday Project 7pm at 292 000 to sit at #9. The Graham Norton Show was #11 with 239 000 viewers. NCIS: Hawaii continued with new episodes into ‘non ratings’ with 134 000 viewers.
ABC News Sunday was #3 with 586 000 viewers. A repeat of Death in Paradise continues to attract audiences with 425 000 at #7. The terrific movie, Lion had 199 000 viewers and beat Salt on Seven.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup continues to shine for SBS, making it the #3 network and primary channel last night. The match between Japan and Costa Rica was #5 for the night with 448 000 fans.
