Ooops! I Bought a Pub Season 2 confirmed after Channel 7 debut – Shane Jacobson has announced that his country pub series will return for a second season.
Jacobson confirmed the news in a video published on his verified Facebook page. He said filming would take place at the Dederang Hotel over the coming months. Channel 7 has not yet separately announced a premiere date or scheduling details.
For Australian viewers, the announcement turns a six-part local experiment into a returning television format. It also gives Channel 7 another home-grown factual series centred on regional Australia, community and renovation.

Jacobson also warned visitors that they could hear the word “action” around the hotel in the coming months. He joked that there was no need to panic because it would simply be the team filming the television series.
Further details remain under wraps. An episode count, production timetable and broadcast date have not been announced. Therefore, the confirmation is currently coming directly from Jacobson rather than through a separate Channel 7 programming announcement.
How the first season began
Ooops! I Bought a Pub premiered on Channel 7 and 7plus on 2 May 2026. The six-part series followed Jacobson and his long-time friend, filmmaker Dean Murphy, as they took ownership of the historic Dederang Hotel in Victoria’s Kiewa Valley.
Jacobson agreed to buy the rundown country pub without inspecting it first. The project soon became much larger than expected as the new owners attempted to renovate the venue while keeping it open for the local community.
The first season followed septic problems, difficult weather, budget pressure and an approaching wedding deadline. Meanwhile, the production introduced viewers to publican Dave McKnight, chef Ali McKilliop, local tradespeople and Dederang residents.
Rather than treating the hotel as a conventional makeover, Jacobson and Murphy tried to retain its country identity. Their stated approach was to improve the venue without removing the history and character that made it important to the town.
A new chapter at the Dederang Hotel
Jacobson did not reveal the central project for Season 2. However, his announcement confirms cameras will return to the working hotel. The next season can now follow what happens after the major renovation and reopening documented in the original run.
The Dederang Hotel remains open as a pub, restaurant, accommodation venue and community meeting place. Jacobson’s announcement also emphasised its staff, food, beer and local supporters.
Ooops! I Bought a Pub is produced by Ocean View Entertainment for Channel 7. Shane Jacobson and Dean Murphy served as executive producers on the first season.
