The Fox official trailer debuts with Sam Neill and Olivia Colman – Madman Entertainment and Causeway Films have released the official trailer for The Fox.
The film is the debut feature from writer and director Dario Russo.
It blends satire, surrealism and Australian folktale elements.
Cast
The Fox stars Jai Courtney, Emily Browning, Damon Herriman, Claudia Doumit, Zlatko Buric and Frankie J. Holden.
Heather Mitchell, Peter O’Brien and Kim Gyngell also star.
Sam Neill appears as The Magpie. Miranda Otto and Olivia Colman appear as The Fox.
Festival momentum
The Fox was named one of Variety’s eight best films at SXSW Austin.
It won the Sydney Film Festival GIO Audience Award for Best Australian Feature.
It also won the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Calgary Underground Film Festival.
The film was shot in Adelaide with support from Screen Australia and the South Australian Film Corporation.
Story
The story follows Nick, played by Jai Courtney. He discovers his fiancee Kori, played by Emily Browning, is cheating on him.
Then Nick captures a rogue Fox. She offers him a dangerous bargain that could change Kori into the perfect partner.
The Fox has its Victorian premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival on 12 August 2026.
The Fox will be released in Australian cinemas on 29 October 2026.
