Hayu announces Summer House Canada as production begins – Hayu and Lark Productions have started production on Summer House Canada, the first international edition of the Summer House franchise.
The new reality series is also Hayu’s second original commission, following The Real Housewives of London.
Filming is underway in Muskoka, Ontario. The 10-episode season will stream exclusively on Hayu in 2027.
A new Canadian setting
The show follows a group of friends who escape to a shared house on summer weekends.
Muskoka gives the format a fresh backdrop, with waterfront cottages, lake life and a lively social scene shaping the season.
As a result, viewers can expect the usual mix of friendships, romance, career pressure and personal conflict.
The location also gives Hayu a clear point of difference for the first international version of the format.
Hayu expands its originals slate
The announcement builds on Hayu’s first original series, The Real Housewives of London.
That title has already been renewed for a second season and will return to the service later this year.
Hendrik McDermott, Managing Director, International DTC at NBCUniversal, said Muskoka gives the adaptation an iconic local setting.
Meanwhile, Erin Haskett, President and Executive Producer at Lark Productions, said the franchise works because of its friendships, big personalities and summer moments.
The Canadian edition comes from Lark Productions and NBCUniversal. In addition, NBCUniversal Formats distributes the broader franchise internationally.
Where to watch
