Danny Boyle’s INK sets Australian cinema release date – StudioCanal has set the Australian and New Zealand theatrical release date for Danny Boyle’s INK. The film will arrive in cinemas on 7 January 2027.
The announcement also comes with a new image from the film, starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy.
For Australian audiences, INK brings a major international cinema release with a direct media-world connection. The film features Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and arrives after its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.
Australian Release Date
StudioCanal confirmed that INK will be released only in cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on 7 January 2027.
The wider StudioCanal release plan begins in France and Belgium on 6 January 2027. It then moves to the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand on 7 January 2027.
After that, the film reaches the UK and Poland on 8 January 2027. Italy is set for 18 February 2027, while Germany follows on 25 February 2027.
Venice World Premiere
Before its Australian release, INK will have its world premiere screening in competition on 2 September 2026.
The screening will take place in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido di Venezia. The film has also been selected as the opening film of the 83rd Biennale Cinema.

INK is based on the Tony-nominated play by James Graham, who has written the screenplay.
The film follows a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news. That idea would give people what they wanted and change the face of the world.
O’Connell stars as The Sun editor Larry Lamb. Pearce plays Rupert Murdoch, while Foy plays Jules Davies.
Boyle directs and produces the film. Tessa Ross, Michael Ellenberg and Tracey Seaward also produce.
In addition, the film reunites Boyle and Ross after their collaboration on Slumdog Millionaire.
