Charlie Hunnam reunites Sons of Anarchy cast for FX series Legends – Charlie Hunnam is bringing the Sons of Anarchy cast back together for Legends, a new FX meta-thriller that turns the idea of a reunion into the story itself.
This is not a straight revival of Jax Teller or SAMCRO. Instead, US reports say Hunnam and several original cast members will play fictionalised versions of themselves after reuniting at a fan convention. From there, the line between the old show and real danger starts to blur.
For Australian viewers, the key question is still where Legends will land locally. FX has not announced Australian release details, so this is one to watch as a major franchise development rather than a confirmed local streaming date.
What Legends Is About
According to multiple US entertainment reports, Legends begins more than a decade after Sons of Anarchy ended. The former cast reunites at a fan convention, only for the nostalgia to give way to a real-world threat.
That makes Legends a different kind of franchise return. Rather than undoing the original finale or finding a conventional way back into Charming, the new series uses the cultural afterlife of Sons of Anarchy as the hook.
It is a reunion, a thriller and a self-aware industry story in one. It also gives FX a way to return to the world around Sons of Anarchy without pretending the original ending did not matter.
Who Is Returning
Hunnam is developing and executive producing Legends, and is also set to star. Returning Sons of Anarchy cast members reported for the series include Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates and Theo Rossi.
The original series’ creator Kurt Sutter is not currently attached to the new project. Jonathan Groff is reported as showrunner, which points to a clear creative shift for this new chapter.
Why The Reunion Matters
Sons of Anarchy ran on FX from 2008 to 2014 across seven seasons. The outlaw motorcycle club drama built a fiercely loyal audience and made Hunnam’s Jax Teller one of the network’s defining characters.
The mythology later expanded through Mayans M.C., which ran for five seasons. Legends now gives the franchise another path, but with a more self-aware frame than a standard sequel or reboot.
There is no confirmed trailer or Australian premiere date yet. TV Central will update readers when FX, Disney or another local platform confirms how Legends will be released in Australia.
