Nine 2027 Upfront: Nine Sport reveals biggest year of sport yet – Nine has unveiled a 2027 sport slate spanning cricket, netball, basketball, tennis, rugby league, rugby union and athletics across Channel 9, 9Now and Stan Sport.
The presentation positions 2027 as a major year for Nine’s sports coverage, with the Men’s and Women’s Ashes, the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney and the Men’s Rugby World Cup on Australian soil among the headline events. The network is also adding the NBL to its free-to-air offering.
A year-round slate
Nine says Channel 9 and 9Now will show two marquee NBL games weekly, plus the Finals, alongside the WNBL. Stan Sport will continue its football offering across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Emirates FA Cup.
Cricket’s Ashes series from the United Kingdom will be available across Channel 9, 9Now, publishing, Stan Sport, social and outdoor assets. The Australian Open returns alongside complete Grand Slam coverage that also includes Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.
World Cup homecomings
The 2027 Rugby World Cup will feature 24 nations, 52 matches and six weeks of competition across seven host cities. Key matches, including every Wallabies game, will air on Channel 9 and 9Now, while Stan Sport will offer every match live and on demand in 4K.
Nine also highlighted a 365-day women’s sport calendar, including netball, the Ashes, rugby union, NRLW, tennis, swimming, basketball, athletics and football. The network says the Netball World Cup will be supported by a full year of coverage around the sport.

Meanwhile, the 2027 plan puts local content and platform investment at the centre of Nine’s wider offering.
