Nine 2027 Upfront: Stan announces McLeod’s Daughters return and new Originals – Stan has used Nine’s 2027 Upfront to announce a new era of Australian Originals and global acquisitions, led by the return of McLeod’s Daughters.

The streamer says its 2027 lineup combines locally made drama and unscripted titles with international exclusives and major sport. For Australian viewers, the announcement is a significant expansion of Stan’s Original slate, while also extending the worlds of The Block and Love Island Australia.

Australian Originals

Twenty-five years after the original series launched, McLeod’s Daughters will return as a Stan Original from Werner Film Productions. Stan also announced legal drama Slander, starring Rachel Griffiths, and Stuck Up & Stupid, a contemporary reimagining of Pride and Prejudice based on the BookTok bestseller.

Jacki Weaver has joined the cast of Kalgoorlie-set crime mystery Two Birds. Hamish Blake will lead unscripted series Unskilled Adult, premiering on 1 November, while The F Ward and MAFS: After the Dinner Party return.

Stan will also expand Nine’s reality franchises with The Block: The House Next Door, which follows fan-favourite all-stars tackling a sixth renovation, and Love Island Australia: Unseen. Uncut..

Global titles and sport

New acquisitions include the Baywatch reboot, The Siege, The Interrogator, Honey and You Are Here. Stan will also be the Australian home of the 84th Annual Golden Globes and 60th Annual CMA Awards.

Stan Sport’s calendar includes the Premier League through to 2033/34, the 2027 Rugby World Cup, the Netball World Cup and the lead-in to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, the 2027 plan puts local content and platform investment at the centre of Nine’s wider offering. As a result, the announcement gives audiences a clearer view of how the group plans to connect television, streaming and related media. In addition, Nine says it will roll out the new initiatives nationally. Ultimately, the strategy is intended to support its 2027 audience and content plans.
