SBS World News: Catalina Flórez to replace Anton Enus as weekend presenter – Respected journalist Catalina Flórez will become the permanent weekend presenter of SBS World News from Thursday 8 October. She succeeds Anton Enus, who has held the role for 12 years.
Flórez will front SBS’s flagship 6.30pm bulletin on Fridays and Saturdays. She will deliver the key domestic and international stories of the day. Janice Petersen continues as presenter from Sunday to Thursday.
The appointment keeps a familiar SBS journalist at the centre of its nightly news service. Flórez joined the broadcaster in 2020. Since then, she has combined presenting duties with reporting on major Australian and global stories.
Reporting experience
Her recent work included coverage of Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. She also reported after Venezuela’s July earthquakes.
In addition, Flórez investigated El Salvador’s CECOT prison for Dateline. She reported from Colombia for Grow Chocolate Not Cocaine. She has also examined Australia’s seasonal-worker scheme in the Pacific.
Flórez is an award-winning journalist with more than 18 years’ experience. Before SBS, she spent 12 years in commercial television. That included time as Network 10’s national political editor. She has covered major political, social and international events.

Meanwhile, SBS World News Managing Editor Adam McIlrick said the new presenter would bring “a fresh and engaging voice” to the Friday and Saturday bulletins.
