Rose Davies completes historic 5000m and 10000m double at Glasgow 2026 – Rose Davies has made Commonwealth Games history at Glasgow 2026, backing up her 10,000m win with gold in the 5,000m.
Davies led an Australian one-two in the 5,000m, with Jess Hull taking silver as Seven’s Bruce McAvaney and Tamsyn Manou called the decisive stages.
For Australian viewers, the distance double gives Seven’s athletics coverage one of the signature stories of the Games, pairing an historic result with a classic McAvaney call.

As the race tightened, McAvaney framed the contest as a battle between the 10,000m champion and Australia’s Olympic 1500m silver medallist.
Davies made the move she needed to make, with Hull going with her as the two Australians separated themselves in the final stages.

McAvaney said Davies had to take the speed out of Hull’s legs, and the plan proved enough for the 10,000m champion to complete the double.
Manou said Davies and Hull took control of the race before unleashing with 200 metres to go, praising Davies for recovering brilliantly and winning her second gold medal of the Games.
