Friday – Episode 18

JOHANNA – MOUNTAIN ESCAPE
If your weekends don’t involve alpacas, road trips and a little bit of camping, then you are missing out! This week, Johanna’s taking you on an epic weekend-break to the Gold Coast Hinterland and it’s as lush and relaxing as you might imagine. From the picturesque Tamborine Mountain to a visit to an alpaca farm and more, there’s so much to explore in this gorgeous corner of the world…and it’s only 90-minutes from Brisbane.

ADAM + CHARLIE – HELPING OUT ONE OF THE LAST WWII DIGGERS
Anzac Day is a time for all Australians to reflect and pay our respects to those who served their country and tonight, we’re giving thanks to one of the last surviving diggers of the Kokoda Trail Campaign, Reg Chard. Johanna, Adam and Charlie first met Reg four years ago, when they gave his front of house a bit of a refresh. Reg is now a sprightly 102 years young and there are a few odd jobs around the house that could be done to make his life a little bit easier. Adam and Charlie are here to check in with Reg and lend a helping hand.
COLIN – CRÈME BRULEE TO SHARE
When it comes to cooking, Colin’s usually the boss…but not in this kitchen! This week, his wife, Jane, is joining him to cook a delicious dessert that’ll feed a crowd. Colin (and Jane’s!) crème brulee is creamy, full of vanilla and topped with a delicious toffee crust. Served with strawberries dressed in sugar and red wine vinegar, it’ll serve up to 10 people, so it’s perfect for your next dinner party.
GRAHAM – THE AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL
Tonight, Graham is visiting The Australian War Memorial in Canberra, a memorial and museum dedicated to all Australians who died serving their country and to those who continue to serve our nation in war, conflict and operations. Join Graham as he takes you through the iconic galleries, gardens, roll of honour and the Pool of Reflection.

JOHANNA – COUNTRY WOMEN’S ANZAC BICKIES
The Country Women’s Association is a national icon and, although you may know it for its tea and scones, it is about so much more. This week, Johanna’s meeting up with some of the members of the Eastwood Country Women’s Association at their tearoom. She’s finding out more about the organisation’s incredible work helping women and children in need and bringing purpose to thousands of women’s lives around Australia. And as it’s Anzac Day today, the visit wouldn’t be complete without making a few Anzac bickies…so Johanna’s getting some baking secrets from the experts.

DR HARRY – MANIC THE HERO HOUND
For more than a century, military working dogs have served proudly alongside Aussie troops in every major campaign, protecting our diggers and saving countless lives with their courage, instincts and loyalty. And this Anzac Day, Dr Harry is meeting one of our finest. Manic, the $8 rescue pup became a true Aussie war hero, serving six years as a combat assault dog and protecting our diggers in some of the toughest missions imaginable. Today, Manic is retired and a celebrity in his own right – as the first honorary four-legged member of the Cronulla RSL. Dr Harry’s meeting up with this humble four-legged veteran and true Aussie legend.
CLARISSA – CHICKEN LARB
It’s the classic Thai dish we all love ordering…but have you ever tried making it at home? Clarissa’s cooking one of her all-time favourite Thai salads, chicken larb. Made with chicken mince that’s been tossed with onions, chillies, fish sauce and tons of herbs, then coated with ground roasted rice and kaffir lime leaves, it’s fresh, zingy and healthy, and it only takes 10 minutes to cook – you can’t lose.
GRAHAM – THE AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL – PART TWO
Last night, Graham explored the Australian War Memorial in Canberra…but it’s not just the buildings here which honour those serviceman and women who have lost their lives during war. Tonight, Graham’s taking you on a tour through the stunning gardens here, which were thoughtfully designed to commemorate and to thank those that have served our country. From the Sculpture Garden to the flowers of the Flanders Memorial Garden and the historic Lone Pine Tree, this garden is a place full of meaning and memories and Graham is sharing it all with you.
ADAM – SORT YA DOORS – SCRAPING SCREEN DOORS
Everyone has those little problems with their home they get so used to, they forget about fixing them. And a screen door that scrapes on the ground is definitely one of those issues. Adam’s showing you how easy it is to fix and, if you’re about to add a new screen door, he has some tips to get the installation right the first time, so it never scrapes in the future.
JULIET – HACK IT & CREATE DESIGNER FURNITURE
When it comes to choosing furniture, it doesn’t have to be all straight lines and right angles. In fact, curved furniture can really add softness and visual interest to a space, which is why it’s one of the biggest trends in design right now. This week, Juliet’s showing you how to get the look for less. She’s making a curved and panelled sideboard using a few flat-pack kitchen cabinets and some timber place mats. Sounds strange, but the finished result looks a million bucks!
