ANZAC Day blockbuster leads a huge weekend of sport on Seven and 7plus Sport – AFL, LIV Golf and horse racing on Seven and 7plus Sport.

One of the biggest occasions on the AFL fixture takes centre stage on the Seven Network tomorrow, when powerhouse clubs Collingwood and Essendon clash in the annual ANZAC Day match as part of an action-packed weekend of footy, live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Since their inaugural ANZAC Day match 30 years ago, the Magpies and Bombers have taken their longstanding rivalry to new heights with an epic series of matches in honour of the courageous ANZACs who served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations – and particularly those who served in Gallipoli, where ANZAC forces landed on 25 April, 1915.

Kicking off from 2.00pm AEST on Friday, Seven will broadcast the full pre-game ceremony live and free, including the traditional ANZAC Day moment of silence and motorcade in front of a packed MCG, before the match coverage starts from 3.00pm.

The AFL action will continue into the night on ANZAC Day, when Fremantle take on the Adelaide Crows from 7.00pm AEST live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Football’s #1 commentary team will again lead Seven’s ANZAC Day coverage live from the MCG, featuring Bruce McAvaney, Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Matthew Richardson and Abbey Holmes.

Seven’s coverage will also include former Collingwood star, Dale “Daisy” Thomas, who knows ANZAC Day football better than anyone, having played seven times on the big occasion during his time at Collingwood.

The on-field action kicks off tonight, when Melbourne hosts Richmond at the MCG for the ANZAC Day Eve match, live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport from 7.00pm AEST.

Rounding out an epic Round Seven on Seven and 7plus Sport will be the Carlton v Geelong Cats Sunday Afternoon Football match, from 2.30pm AEST Sunday on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

State league footy takes hold on Saturday, starting with the SANFL Round Four match between South Adelaide and North Adelaide from 2.00pm ACST on Seven and streamed nationally on 7plus Sport. Then, Essendon host Collingwood in the VFL from 7.00pm AEST on 7mate, while Perth take on East Perth in the WAFL from 7.00pm AWST on 7mate, both streamed live and free on 7plus Sport, nationally.

Following the VFL clash, viewers can join 7NEWS Melbourne’s Kate Massey and VFL commentator Nigel Carmody for AFL Saturday Rewind as they report all the biggest moments from Saturday’s AFL matches.

Fans in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia can also watch Round Seven matches involving teams from their home states on Seven and 7plus Sport.

The sport action doesn’t stop there, with five hours of thoroughbred racing live from Bookmaker’s Recognition Day at Royal Randwick and Sportsbet Robert Sangster Stakes & Australasian Oaks Day at Morphettville, on Saturday, 12.00pm AEST on Seven, 7two and 7plus Sport.

Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones, said: “With four epic AFL matches – including an ANZAC Day double header – plus state league footy, Group One horse racing and LIV Golf, there is something for all sport fans this week on Seven.

“There are few more meaningful football moments than when Collingwood and Essendon run out together for the ANZAC Day match. The game has become one of the AFL’s most respected traditions, on a day when Australians young and old pause to give thanks to the men and women who have served – and continue to serve – our country so bravely.”
