Starman touches down in NSW with Brendan Fraser and Jeff Daniels — Screen NSW has confirmed production is underway in Sydney on the cosmic sci-fi thriller Starman.
The feature film stars Oscar winner Brendan Fraser and two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels, with filming taking place across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Disney Studios Australia at Moore Park.
For the local screen sector, the production is another major international project choosing NSW. Screen NSW says the film is expected to generate more than $23 million in expenditure and create an estimated 229 local cast and crew jobs.
Starman Filming In NSW
Starman is written and directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Wakely. The film is supported by Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund.
The cast also includes BAFTA-winning Irish actress, writer and comedian Aisling Bea, alongside Australian actors Claudia Karvan, Lewis Fitz-Gerald, Ewen Leslie, Stephen Curry, Huw Higginson and Heather Mitchell.
Newcomer Oliver Aldrich also joins the cast.

When unforeseen events strand him millions of miles from Earth, his mission becomes an urgent race against time. The story is driven by survival and love.
The film is a GRACE: A Storytelling Company production. It is produced by Eddie Vaisman of Sight Unseen, and Josh Wakely and Rebecca Graham of GRACE: A Storytelling Company.
David S. Goyer executive produces alongside Tarek Sherif, Ryan Graves, Matt Tedder and Sight Unseen’s Julia Lebedev.
Screen NSW Support
Screen NSW Executive Director Kylie Munnich said Sydney was the perfect place for the film to lift off.
She said the production joins a growing list of high-end projects choosing to film in NSW with support from Screen NSW.
Producer Rebecca Graham said NSW gave the production the scale, locations and local cast and crew it needed.
Starman commenced principal photography in June. Anton is handling international sales.
