Official Trailer Debuts For Silenced – Sharmill Films and Stranger Than Fiction have released the official trailer for Silenced.
The Australian documentary opens in cinemas on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
The film follows human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson. It looks at how defamation laws can be used against survivors and journalists.
Silenced also features Brittany Higgins, Catalina Ruiz-Navarro and Amber Heard. Their stories sit at the centre of high-profile legal battles around the world.
From Sundance To Australian Cinemas
Selina Miles directs the documentary. Her credits include Martha: A Picture Story and Harley & Katya.
Emmy Award-winning producer Blayke Hoffman produces the film with Stranger Than Fiction.
Silenced had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year. It then opened the 2026 Sydney Film Festival.
Next, the film will screen at the Melbourne International Film Festival. It has been selected as MIFF’s Premiere With Purpose gala.

The film received major production investment from Screen Australia. It was made in association with Minderoo Pictures and the ABC.
It was also financed with support from Screen NSW, Shark Island Foundation and Soundfirm. Sharmill Films is handling the local release.
