Corpus starring Brodie Townsend to premiere at MIFF –
Corpus, starring Australian actor Brodie Townsend, will have its Australian premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival on 13 August.
The film arrives at MIFF after its world premiere at Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal last month. Townsend will attend the festival with co-writer and producer Lily Cowles. Director and co-writer Corrin Evans will also attend.
For Australian festival audiences, the MIFF premiere gives Corpus a local launch point after its international debut. It also brings Townsend back into the spotlight for viewers who know him from Heartbreak High.
Evans and Cowles wrote the film. The cast includes Jeff Wahlberg, Townsend, Michael Vlamis, Cowles, Nuha Jes Izman and Ching Valdes-Aran.
The film follows Sayo, a nightlife photographer and small-time drug dealer in New York City in 1998. Then Vince, played by Townsend, invites him to an upstate party. Vince is his long-time friend, unrequited love and a movie star on the rise.
Sayo, Vince and Ross travel to a remote manor expecting summer excess. However, they soon encounter three mysterious women. Their agenda pulls the men into seduction and terror.
Corpus marks Evans’ feature directorial debut. She has also worked as an intimacy coordinator on Ti West’s MaXXXine and Larry Charles’ Dicks: The Musical.
Cowles, Evans, Alix Taylor, Sarah Mather and Thomas Wallis produce the film. Meanwhile, Yellow Veil Pictures handles world sales.
