The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping stars at Sydney photo call – Australian actor Joseph Zada and Mckenna Grace have appeared beside Sydney Harbour as the film’s global publicity tour began. The first official photo-call images put the pair together ahead of the film’s Australian cinema release on 19 November 2026.

Sydney is the first stop for a campaign built around a new generation of Panem characters. For Australian audiences, the launch also places Zada, who plays the young Haymitch Abernathy, at the centre of the franchise’s next chapter.

Zada takes on Haymitch at 16, when his name is drawn for the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. That edition of the Games doubles the number of tributes. The story unfolds 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games film.

Grace plays Maysilee Donner, another District 12 tribute. The pair’s story places them against the Capitol under President Snow, played by Ralph Fiennes.
