The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping trailer welcomes the Second Quarter Quell – The first trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has arrived, offering a look at the 50th Hunger Games ahead of the film’s Australian and New Zealand cinema release on 19 November 2026.
The new chapter returns to Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, beginning on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games. Also known as the Second Quarter Quell, the event sets the story in the years before the revolution at the centre of the original films.
A new cast in Panem
Sunrise on the Reaping stars Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The trailer’s arrival gives audiences their first extended look at the film’s approach to the Second Quarter Quell. It also confirms the franchise’s next big-screen return will be an IMAX release.
