MOVIE – Wilding trailer – Garage Entertainment is delighted to announce award-winning author and conservationist Isabella Tree will take part in a live Q&A event in Sydney followed by a series of pre-recorded Q&A events across Australia in March, ahead of the release of WILDING. Garage Films has also revealed that the critically acclaimed documentary will be launched with special event screenings all around Australia in celebration of World Rewilding Day, March 20.
The highest grossing documentary in the UK in 2024, WILDING tells the story of a couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing four-hundred-year-old estate.
Following three sold-out sessions at Sydney Film Festival and five sold-out Byron Bay screenings, these special events will take place across the nation between Monday 10 March and Saturday 27 April with more screenings to be announced before the film releases nationally in cinemas on May 22, 2025.
Produced by three-time Oscar winning production company Passion Pictures partnered with Oscar-nominated and Emmy and Peabody Award-winning HHMI Bank Studios, WILDING was selected to screen at BFI London Film Festival 2023, Montclair Film Festival 2023, Sydney Film Festival 2024, Melbourne International Film Festival 2024, Norwegian International Film Festival 2024, Hamptons International Film Festival, where it won ‘Giving Voice to the Voiceless’ Award and Illuminate Film Festival 2024 where it won the Audience Award.
WILDING boasts extraordinary footage of the creatures inhabiting the Knepp estate in West Sussex and the ways they have bought the land back to life. From the pigs turning over the soil, to the first wild storks born in the UK for 600 years, to the ten-year wait for the license to allow beavers on the land, cinematographers Tim Craigg and Simon De Glanville give the English countryside widescreen grandeur.
Synopsis:
Based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, WILDING tells the story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing, four-hundred-year-old estate. The young couple battles entrenched tradition and dare to place the fate of their farm in the hands of nature. Ripping down the fences, they set the land back to the wild and entrust its recovery to a motley mix of animals, both tame and wild. It is the beginning of a grand experiment that will become one of the most significant rewilding experiments in Europe.

For the Q&A premiere in Sydney on March 10, Isabella Tree will be joined by AWC Chief Science Officer Dr John Kanowski and Wildlife Advocate Ben Dessen. Isabella and AWC CEO Tim Allard have also pre-recorded a virtual Q&A, moderated by Jack Thompson, which will play at all regional events nationally.
