Apple TV+ highlights for the month of March include The Problem with Jon Stewart, Ted Lasso, Extrapolations, My Kind of Country, The Big Door Prize, Eva the Owlet and Tetris. The Problem with Jon Stewart The highly anticipated new current affairs series from acclaimed host, writer, producer, director and advocate Jon Stewart, taking a deep dive on the issues affecting us most. “The Problem With Jon Stewart” is a multiple-season, single-issue series with Stewart in discussion with the people who are impacted by the issue — as well as those who have a hand in creating the impact. Together, they will discuss tangible steps that can lead to a solutionary path forward. The Apple Original series will also feature a companion podcast that will extend the conversation from each episode, featuring staff members from across the show who will bring us interviews with activists in the space, the facts on the issue, and yes, lots of jokes. “The Problem With Jon Stewart” series will release new episodes every other week, while the series’ official podcast will introduce new episodes every week on Apple Podcast (where available). The Problem with Jon Stewart – Friday 3 March, 2023 Ted Lasso Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”) via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold also serves as an executive producer with Liza Katzer as co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports. Ted Lasso – Wednesday 15 March, 2023 Extrapolations “Extrapolations” is a bracing drama from writer, director and executive producer Scott Z. Burns that introduces a near future where the chaotic effects of climate change have become embedded into our everyday lives. Eight interwoven stories about love, work, faith and family from across the globe will explore the intimate, life-altering choices that must be made when the planet is changing faster than the population. Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal. My Kind of Country – Friday 24 March, 2023 The Big Door Prize Based on M.O. Walsh’s novel of the same name, “The Big Door Prize” tells the story of a small town that is forever changed when a mysterious machine appears in the general store, promising to reveal each resident’s true life potential. The Big Door Prize – Wednesday 29 March, 2023 Eva the Owlet Apple TV+ today announced a series order for “Eva the Owlet,” a new animated kids and family series based on the New York Times bestselling Scholastic book series “Owl Diaries” by award-winning author Rebecca Elliott. Since first being published, “Owl Diaries” now has eight foreign language translations and 3 million copies in print. Produced by Scholastic Entertainment and animated by Brown Bag Films, “Eva the Owlet” also features original songs by critically acclaimed musician and singer-songwriter Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums. “Eva the Owlet” stars Eva, a creative, cheeky owlet who lives next door to her best friend Lucy in the woodland world of Treetopington. With big ideas and an even bigger personality, Eva goes on high-flying adventures, expressing herself in her journal along the way! “Eva the Owlet” is the latest series in the Apple TV+ kids’ changemakers initiative, which brings world-renowned education leaders together with the world’s most creative storytellers to create inspiring and enriching original series for kids.
