MKR Plate Gate puts Alisha and Deanne under pressure on Channel 7 – Alisha and Deanne are preparing to open their South Australian instant restaurant, Hot Mess, but their choice of melamine plates is set to become the night’s biggest talking point.
The self-described “classy bogans” bring plenty of energy to the kitchen. They are banking on bold flavours and hearty dishes to impress judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge.
For viewers, the episode builds on the pair’s larger-than-life introduction by testing whether their food can cut through the noise at the table. It also puts presentation at the centre of the judging conversation.
Hot Mess opens its doors
Alisha and Deanne want to prove their critics wrong when Hot Mess opens on Monday night. Their confidence is clear, although the guests are already expecting an unpredictable evening.
Food stylist Jane says, “I’m expecting crazy vibes.” She also hopes the team will keep its plating simple and elegant.
Plate Gate divides the table
The mood changes when the team’s melamine plates arrive at the dining table. A debate quickly starts over the balance between taste and presentation.
The guests must decide whether the crockery matters if the food delivers. At the same time, Alisha and Deanne need to prevent the argument from overshadowing their menu and their final scores.
