Naza documentary set for Australian cinemas after Venice prize – The award-winning documentary Naza will reach select Australian cinemas on 15 October, following special preview screenings and panel discussions around the country.
The release gives Australian audiences an early chance to see a film that drew a 25-minute standing ovation at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. It went on to receive the festival’s Special Jury Prize.

Australian preview screenings
Madman Entertainment will stage preview screenings on Sunday, 11 October. Each session will be followed by a moderated panel discussion.

The filmmakers behind Naza
Naza is directed by Israeli journalists and filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. Both were among the four co-directors of the Oscar-winning 2024 documentary No Other Land.
The film is produced by The Guardian and James Wilson through JW Films. Oscar-winning filmmaker Jonathan Glazer, whose credits include The Zone of Interest, serves as executive producer.
What Naza examines
Shot at night on rooftops in Tel Aviv, the documentary investigates the systems behind Israel’s mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Its makers present a detailed examination of how those systems operate.
The film’s Venice recognition places it among the major international documentary releases of 2026. Its Australian cinema run will follow the festival response with screenings designed to encourage further public discussion.
