Extraction 3 begins production in New South Wales – Netflix has announced that Extraction 3, starring Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani, has begun production in New South Wales.
The high-octane thriller will shoot across the South Coast of NSW and Sydney over the next few months.
The production is a significant screen industry win for Australia, with Netflix saying the film will create 450 local jobs and contribute an estimated $127 million to the NSW screen industry and wider economy.
Tyler Rake returns
Sam Hargrave returns to direct the third chapter, working from a screenplay by David Weil.
The film is produced by AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Ari Costa; Wild State’s Chris Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson; along with Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin.
Steven V. Scavelli and Shelby Malone serve as executive producers.
A major NSW production
Hargrave said the team is looking forward to filming the third chapter of the Extraction saga in New South Wales, adding that the goal has always been to push the boundaries of action filmmaking.
Producer Patrick Newall thanked federal and NSW partners for helping make the production possible.
NSW Minister for the Arts John Graham welcomed the cast and crew to Sydney and the South Coast, while Netflix APAC Director of Production Policy Debra Richards said government support remains vital to strengthening the Australian film landscape.
