Saturday Ratings – Doc Martin takes overnights, whilst the 2022 FIFA World Cup claims #1 in Total TV

Analysis for Total TV (26 November, 2022) and Overnight (3 December, 2022) ratings.

Although the networks have released their wins for 2022, this Total TV report officially marks the end of of the 2022 survey year. Last Saturday was the final night of survey so this data will count in the progressive survey result. In theory, networks should really be releasing their final results today or tomorrow.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup match between Tunisia and Australia was #1 last Saturday with 1,721 000 fans watching on, a rise of 30%. The post match for the same game was #6 with 682 000, an upswing of 28%. The England v USA match was #9 with 419 000, lifting 45%. The Poland and Saudi Arabia pre match was #10 with 406 000, increasing its audience by 31%. The actual game between Poland and Saudi Arabia was #11 with 366 000, a boost of 58% on its overnights. The Tunisia and Australia pre match coverage was #14 with 340 000, growth of 25%.

Seven News was #2 with 955 000, strengthening its result by 2%. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday was #12 with 362 000, bolstering its audience by 3%. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday Early #15, had 299 000 watching, an upsurge of 3%. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday Late #16, was on 287 000, an improvement of 4% on its overnights. Seven News at 5 was #23 with 228 000, expanding 2%. The movie, The Santa Clause was #24 with 227 000, enhancing its audience by 4%. Border Security: Australia’s Front Line repeat was #28 with 206 000, uplifting 5% and Seven’s Cricket: WBBL – Th Final was on 177 000, with no uptick in the Total TV measurement.

Nine News Saturday was #4 with 761 000, up 3%. A Current Affair – Saturday was #8 with 429 000, rising 5%. Getaway was a good lead in to the news at #17 with 284 000, an upswing of 6%. Weekend Today – Saturday was #20 with 256 000, a lift of 5%. The movie, The Bourne Ultimatium was #22 with 244 000, an increase of 6%/ Weekend Today – Saturday Late was #25 with 213 000, a boost of 6%. Weekend Today – Saturday Early was #26 with 207 000, growth of 5%.

10 News First at Five was #19 with 266 000, strengthening its result by 2%. Blue Bloods was #27 with 206 000, bolstering its audience by 35%. CSI: Vegas was #29 with 199 000 viewers, an upsurge of 35%.

Doc Martin performed well for the ABC with 859 000 viewers, in improvement of 54% on its overnights. Shetland was #5 with 683 000, expanding its audience by 83%. ABC News Saturday was #7 with 568 000, enhancing its audience by 3%. Victoria Votes: Election Results Live on ABC #13, had 352 000 viewers, uplifting 10%. At #18, Victoria Votes: Election Night Live had 279 000, up 9%. A repeat of Vera was #21 with 253 000, rising 42%.

Analysis

Seven News Saturday was #1 with 695 000 with wins in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The highest session in Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v West Indies Day 4 was #5 with 408 000 viewers. The movie, US Marshalls was #20 with 145 000 viewers, airing at different times across the network.

Nine News Saturday was #2 with a win in Brisbane by 2000 viewers. A Current Affair – Saturday was #6 with 373 000. The movie – Justice League moved over to Nine with 170 000 viewers.

Jamie’s One Pan Wonders had 99 000 viewers. Blue Bloods was on 105 000 and CSI: Vegas had 85 000 fans.

Doc Martin was best for the ABC at #3 on 506 000 with ABC’s primary channel outrating Nine. ABC News – Saturday was #4 with 466 000. Shetland was #7 with 368 000. A repeat of Midsomer Murders was #11 with 225 000.
