Filming completed in Queensland on Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro – Screen Queensland has confirmed today that filming recently wrapped in Brisbane on Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro hosted by Robert Irwin.

The ABC (US) series produced by BBC Studios features the Queensland-born wildlife conservationist and Dancing with the Stars season 34 champion as host, while 12 up-and-coming dancers live together and vie for the coveted spot as a pro dancer on the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

During filming earlier in 2026, the production utilised unique locations around the state’s Olympic city, including the striking Thomas Dixon Centre, home of Queensland Ballet.

Minister for the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek said that the series highlights the opportunities that collaboration across Queensland’s creative industries can unlock.

“The Crisafulli Government’s investment in our state’s creative industries through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy and landmark infrastructure is delivering new economic and employment benefits to local communities.

“During production, the BBC Studios production  contributed an estimated $7.2 million to the economy and employed around 110 local cast and crew, while its release will showcase Brisbane to an international audience in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said that the Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro has extended Screen Queensland’s relationship with BBC Studios beyond the highly anticipated Bluey feature film from Brisbane’s Ludo Studio.

“We’ve been delighted to work with BBC Studios to support their latest production in Queensland, which has taken full advantage of the expertise of our local crew, our stunning and versatile locations and facilities, as well as our enviable lifestyle for visiting cast and producers.

“As the leading state in Australia for screen production, we are continuing to expand our industry partnerships by leveraging Queensland’s competitive government incentives and reputation as a centre of excellence for production and animation.”

Eve Frederick, EVP, Production, BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions said

“Brisbane offers an outstanding combination of creative talent, experienced crews and first-class production facilities, making it an ideal location for this new series.

“We worked side by side with our BBC Studios Australia Productions team on the ground and are grateful for the support of Screen Queensland and the collaborative spirit we’ve found locally. As we continue to grow our global production footprint, we look to partner with regions that share our ambition to deliver premium, high-quality storytelling—and Brisbane is a fantastic fit.”

The series will premiere on Monday 13 July on ABC in the United States.

Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro is produced by BBC Studios. Conrad Green serves as showrunner and executive producer. Ryan O’Dowd, Krystal Whitney, Alex Cross and Jenny Groom are executive producers.

Deena Katz and Quinn Lipton are co-executive producers. The series is supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.

Recent films and series made in Brisbane include Ludo Studio’s Allen and Bluey, Like A Photon Creative’s The Pout-Pout Fish and The Never Ending Pillow Fort, Hoodlum’s Two Years Later and Story Bridge Films’ FING! (a co-production with King Bert Productions), as well as Balls Up, Deadloch (Season Two), Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and Runner.

Filming began in April on Moving Floor Entertainment’s Fortitude Valley and Amazon MGM Studios’ Honeymoon with Harry. Monster Pictures’ Seven Snipers is currently in cinemas.
