A mouth-watering matchup between the top two ranked seeds in the Western Conference – OKC booked their place with an emphatic clean 4-0 sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers, which has only strengthened their position as favourites to claim back-to-back NBA Championships.
San Antonio Spurs secured their spot in the Western Conference Finals after claiming Game Six against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Spurs backcourt trio of Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper combined with franchise superstar Victor Wembanyama in a dominant series clinching 139-109 win over the Timberwolves.
NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Spurs star Victor Wembanyama headline their respective sides, and the two best teams in the Conference all season are expected to fight out an epic series.
The Eastern Conference Finals will begin on Wednesday May 20 at 10am AEST as the Cleveland Cavaliers face off against the New York Knicks.
Number four seed Cleveland had to go all the way to a deciding Game Seven to book their place in the final four, eliminating the Detroit Pistons.
It means the top two sides in the Eastern Conference, Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics have failed to progress to the Conference Finals.
The New York Knicks breezed their way into the Eastern Conference Finals with a 4-0 clean sweep against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Hope is high in New York that the Knicks can finally end their NBA Finals drought, having fallen at the Eastern Conference Finals stage last season.
New York are riding a seven-game win streak and have outscored their opponents by an NBA record 185 points.
Cleveland will be in their first Conference Finals since 2018 and hopes will rest on NBA All-Stars Donovan Mitchell and James Harden.
The Knicks have not won the Eastern Conference Championship since 1999 and may not have a better chance than this one.
New York will be fresh and the Cavs must turn around immediately after the grueling seven games series with Detroit.
