The Real Cost of Net Zero on Sky News Australia – Sky News Australia has announced it will premiere an exclusive new documentary The Real Cost of Net Zero on Tuesday 19 November at 8.00pm AEDT, presented by award-winning journalist and Sky News Political Contributor Chris Uhlmann.
The documentary takes the most forensic look yet at the detail behind Australia’s ambitious energy transition goals and follows a bombshell admission by the national energy regulator that it cannot guarantee the Albanese Labor Government’s renewables energy plan will lower prices as promised.
Chris speaks to local and international experts in the renewables field to unpack the real cost of achieving 82% renewable electricity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050, and just who will bear it.
Chris Uhlmann said:
“The wind and sun might come free but turning it into electricity doesn’t. In The Real Cost of Net Zero we will show why putting more weather dependent generation on the grid will add up to higher power prices, and less reliability of supply. The march to net zero will come at a real cost, to industry and households, and it looks like the poor will be hardest hit. This is not an ideological position, but a fact-based conclusion based on science and economics.”
A highly respected political journalist with a career spanning more than three decades, prior to joining Sky News earlier this year Chris Uhlmann was Political Editor for the Nine Network. He had previously spent two decades at the ABC, first as host of its Canberra breakfast program and later appointed Political Editor in 2015 reporting for flagship programs ABC News and 7.30.
