Analysis for Total TV (26 December, 2022) and Overnight (2 January, 2023) ratings.

TOTAL TV – Total People

There seems to be an error again this morning with the Total TV report with a result of zero being recorded in the BVOD column for all shows. That means the uplift for shows is either zero or minimal, depending on regional figures. Numbers below are results including regional, after 7 days.

Seven News was #1 with 1, 456 000 (+0%). Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with 1,349 000 (+0%). Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Session 3 was #3 with 1,214 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Session 2 was #4 with 1, 106 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Tea was #5 with 1,087 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Session 1 was #7 with 987 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Lunch was #8 with 974 000. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Sydney Sixers v Melbourne Stars was #14 with 602 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 1 Pre Game was #15 with 506 000. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Perth v Adelaide Strikers was #17 with 437 000. 2022 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race was #18 with 397 000 (+3%). Sunrise was #20 with 327 000 (+20%). The Chase Australia was #21 with 313 000 (+1%). Sunrise – Extended was #27 with 240 000 (+0%). The Chase Australia – 5pm was #30 with 200 000 (+3%).

Nine News was #9 with 810 000 (+1%). Nine News 6:30 was #10 with 802 000 (+0%). A Current Affair was #13 with 653 000 (+0%). RBT was #16 with 459 000 (+2%). A repeat of Paramedics was #19 with 393 000 (+3%). Hot Seat was #22 with 308 000 (+1%). Nine’s Afternoon News was #23 with 279 000 (+0%). Police After Dark was #24 with 279 000 (+3%). Hot Seat – 5pm was #28 with 224 000 (+0%). Today was #29 with 201 000 (+0%).

10 News First was #25 with 279 000 (+0%).

Doc Martin Christmas Special was #6 with 992 000 (+26%). This was the very final episode of the series that ended after 10 seasons and more than 80 episodes. ABC News was #11 with 775 000 (+1%). Farewell Doc Martin was #12 with 772 000 (+20%). Call the Midwife: Christmas Special was #26 with 259 000 (+18%).

TOTAL TV – 25-54

Seven’s Cricket, plus a combination of Seven and Nine News took the top 12 positions. Doc Martin Christmas Special was #17 with 100 000 viewers (+27%).

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven News was #1 with wins in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with wins in the same markets. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Hobart v Adelaide Strikers was #8 with 338 000.

Nine News 6:30 was #3 with a win in Sydney. Nine News was #4, also with a win in Sydney. 2023 United Cup Day 5 – Night was #15 with 258 000 fans.

A repeat of The Dog House Australia aired at 6:30pm, instead of The Project and had 169 000 viewers. The movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark was #16 with 243 000. The movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon had 65 000 viewers.

ABC News was #5 for the night and won its slot. A repeat of Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery was #10 with 306 000. Back Roads returned for the first of 8 new episodes with 319 000 viewers and placed #9. Our Dementia Choir Sings Again returned for the first of two episodes to a crowd of 148 000.
