Sky News Australia is your home of the Queensland Election – Sky News and its team of award-winning political journalists, expert commentators and anchors will bring viewers live coverage as Premier Steven Miles and Opposition Leader David Crisafulli hit the campaign trail ahead of the October 26 election.
From Cairns to Caloundra, Townsville to Toowoomba, Bundaberg to Brisbane, over the next four weeks the Sky News team will bring you all the policy pitches, campaign clashes and every make-or-break moment.
Former Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk joins the team to bring her expertise in Queensland politics to Sky News Australia’s election coverage. Annastacia served as the Premier of Queensland from 2015 – 2023, winning three State elections and becoming Australia’s longest-serving female Premier.
Annastacia Palaszczuk said:
“I will be bringing my expertise, but also my intuition on what Queenslanders are thinking to the Sky News coverage of the Queensland Election. Some of the biggest issues facing Queensland will be the cost-of-living pressures on families, making sure that our education system is robust, building new hospitals that service our regional communities, and having a plan that both parties stick to and deliver a world class Olympics in 2032.”
Also joining the expert election team line-up, former Queensland Premier and Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Campbell Newman.
Campbell Newman said:
“On election night, I’ll be taking a very critical view of the Labor Party, the Liberal National Party, the Greens, Katter’s Australian Party, the whole lot of them, and I’ll be calling it, as I see it, without fear or favour.”
For firsthand perspectives throughout the campaign trail, Sky News reporters Harry Clarke, Lauren Forbes, Cameron Reddin and Fiona Willan will hit the road following the leaders as they make their pitch to voters.
From Monday October 21 to Friday October 25, Peter Stefanovic will broadcast Sky News’ weekday breakfast program First Edition from five locations around Queensland.
