Tonight | The State of Man on ABC: Marc Fennell enters the online manosphere – Marc Fennell begins a three-part investigation into masculinity in Australia and the online world shaping boys and men. It airs Tuesday 13 October 2026 at 8.00pm on ABC and ABC iview.

The programme connects a personal observation about children’s online viewing to a wider question about platforms, influence and the commercial interests around male identity.

Episode 1 of 3

Fennell says he saw how quickly his own children moved from Pokemon videos towards Joe Rogan content. That experience prompts him to examine the routes into the manosphere.

The series follows online influencers, algorithms and the businesses profiting from uncertainty about what it means to be a man. It also considers extremist ideas circulating in those spaces.

Fennell looks at the consequences not only for men and boys but for women, girls and Australians more broadly. The premiere sets up that inquiry rather than claiming one simple explanation for a complicated social question.

The State of Man Episode 1 of 3 airs Tuesday 13 October 2026 at 8.00pm on ABC and ABC iview.
