Tonight | My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7: Mary and Golden serve a Filipino feast – Nurses and best friends Mary and Golden open the fifth Instant Restaurant with dishes rooted in their Filipino heritage. They hope a menu close to their hearts can carry them past the current leaders when My Kitchen Rules airs on Wednesday night.

Their night arrives at a charged point in the competition. Tiffany and Giancarlo lead the table, while Alisha and Deanne are last. Mary and Golden have one more restaurant after theirs in this round, with attention already turning to Jane and Shane. A strong score now would reshape the leaderboard before that final cook.

Mary and Golden’s challenge is to make the flavours personal without letting the pressure of representing Filipino cooking overwhelm their service. Judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge will assess the food, but the rival teams bring their own opinions to the table.

Three dishes with family ties

For entree, the friends prepare Okoy Fritters with Pipino Salad: prawn fritters accompanied by cucumber salad. Golden grew up on a prawn farm and wants to make her parents proud. The test is whether the fritters reach the table crisp rather than soggy.

The main course is Cebu Lechon Belly, a specialty from their island in the Philippines. Mary has called herself the queen of pork, raising expectations for a dish that matters to her personally as well as to the competition.

Dessert is their twist on a Mango Float Ice Cream Sandwich. The prospect of a divided table makes this course especially important. Mary and Golden need to win over both the judges and their fellow contestants if they are to knock Tiffany and Giancarlo from the top.

Pressure builds around the table

The episode also follows the fallout from the previous Instant Restaurant. Jane and Shane say Tiffany and Giancarlo were the first hosts to bring flavour, a comment that angers other teams. Alisha and Deanne, sitting at the bottom, have their own reasons to watch every score closely.

That combination gives Mary and Golden’s service two layers of tension: the practical work of getting a three-course meal out of the kitchen and the competitive argument over how it will be judged. Their Filipino feast is a chance to put their own cooking at the centre of the night.
