The Agenda Setters Rugby League on Channel 7: Jack Bostock swooped by a bird during contract question – Kangaroos star Jack Bostock was swooped by a bird live on The Agenda Setters: Rugby League on Channel 7 tonight, just as he was asked about his contract plans. The moment came as Bostock looked ahead to Australia’s Rugby League World Cup clash with Samoa on Sunday.
Bostock spoke to Corey Parker, David Riccio, Aaron Woods and Luke Keary. He plays his club football with the Dolphins and is off contract at the end of the 2027 NRL season. Under NRL rules, that means rival clubs can approach him from 1 November. Meanwhile, TV Central’s Rugby League World Cup week two results and week three times have the latest from the tournament.
Jack Bostock on his contract: ‘Once the World Cup’s done’
Riccio called Bostock “the hottest name on the November 1 shopping list” and asked where he wanted to place himself. Bostock first joked, “Are you talking about looks or playing?”
Jack Bostock: “Nah, I don’t know mate. You say it’s cliche but it’s just the truth. I’m not too sure yet. I don’t know if you’ve played World Cup footy but there’s a lot on the line”
Mid-answer, a bird swooped at Bostock during his live cross. However, he carried on:
Jack Bostock: “and it’s probably a bit a bit more important than sorting out a contract at the moment. So once the World Cup’s done, I’ll have it all sorted.”
‘Did you guys see that bird?’
When Keary moved on to this weekend’s clash, Bostock still had the bird on his mind.
Jack Bostock: “Did you guys see that bird?”
In response, Parker joked: “Sharp reflexes mates, good prep.”
Bostock on Tonga v Samoa
Earlier, Parker asked whether Bostock had watched Samoa’s fiery clash with Tonga with his teammates.
Jack Bostock: “I sat there and watched it with a few of the boys and obviously was sort of excited to watch as well having those mates back at clubland playing for Tonga and Samoa, be able to watch them versus each other. It was pretty cool and it was a fiery game as you said, obviously a lot of emotion rises when them two versus each other and there’s a lot on the line and a lot at stake.”
Jack Bostock: “It was very fiery but then as you watch the game go on, there’s definitely a lot of skill and a lot of flair. So for us boys, we’re just going to have to come out here. We’re going to have to fire back up at the start of that and then bring that sort of same attitude we did to the Kiwis game in round one. But I feel like a good week here and the boys will be up for it.”
Jack Bostock on the Samoan side
Keary then asked for his thoughts on Samoa. Bostock mentioned Chanel Harris-Tavita’s hamstring injury and Ronald Volkman’s impact off the bench.
Jack Bostock: “Yeah, they’re a great team. Luke, I’ve obviously played with a couple of them back at club land and then even last night when Chanel Harris-Tavita done his hamstring kick in the goal there, that was sad to see. But then Ronald Volkman came on and really injected himself into the game and played well.”
Jack Bostock: “So yeah, for myself and just a team point of view, we obviously know they have a lot of talent all around the park. So we’re just going to have to show up and still play our style of footy, not get caught into anything different. But yeah, play the Australian style of footy and you’ll see who comes out on top.”
