My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7: Tiffany and Giancarlo score first 10 – Melbourne couple Tiffany and Giancarlo have moved to the top of the My Kitchen Rules leaderboard with 86 points. Their Italian family menu at Ciao Bella Ciao earned the competition’s first 10, despite a rabbit bone surprise and a difficult dessert.

The result gives the pair a strong position after the fourth Instant Restaurant. It also shifts the focus from the argument over Alisha and Deanne’s earlier score back to the food: Tiffany and Giancarlo won over both judges and most of the guest teams, even though their three courses did not land equally well.

Plate Gate returns before the first course

Before service, Alisha and Deanne challenged their fellow contestants over the scoring at their Instant Restaurant. Jane said the physical plate had influenced her assessment. Alisha objected that the plate added no flavour to the dish, while Shane maintained that his and Jane’s score reflected the food. Jane stood by it, saying she would not apologise.

The table was divided again when the conversation turned to the $100,000 prize. Lucy, a micro-baker, said the money would change her life. Jane and Shane said it would not be life-changing for them at this stage, prompting another uncomfortable exchange. Against that backdrop, Tiffany and Giancarlo had to serve the diners who would later score them.

Eggplant parmigiana delivers the first 10

The couple opened with Parmigiana di Melanzane, a family-style eggplant dish that became the night’s standout course. Manu Feildel praised the perfectly cooked eggplant and layers of flavour. Colin Fassnidge singled out the caramelised cheese and bright tomato. Manu scored it nine; Colin gave it 10, the first perfect individual dish score of the competition.

Next came Agnolotti di Coniglio, rabbit-filled pasta with a rich sauce. Colin called it a “plate of love”, while Manu praised the filling and the pasta. Both judges awarded nine. But the main also produced the night’s sharpest setback when Deanne found a large rabbit bone in her portion. Angus described it as a choking hazard, and Deanne said the discovery had put her off the dish and would affect her score. The judges and other guests nevertheless responded positively to the flavour and cooking.

The final course, Sfincia di San Giuseppe al Limone, ended the near-perfect run. The Sicilian doughnuts were heavy, doughy and dark, and the lemon custard did not deliver the expected citrus flavour. Both judges scored dessert five. The uneven finish left the pair waiting on the guest scores to learn whether their excellent first two courses would be enough.

How Tiffany and Giancarlo reached 86 points

The judges gave Tiffany and Giancarlo 47 out of 60: Manu’s 9, 9 and 5 added to 23, while Colin’s 10, 9 and 5 made 24. The five guest teams contributed 39 out of 50, taking the couple’s overall result to 86.

The score sent the Melbourne lovebirds to the top of the leaderboard. Tiffany said the response to their cooking made the effort worthwhile: “It’s just the best feeling knowing that you put your heart and soul into it and then it makes other people feel that.”
