Spider-Man: Brand New Day fans take over Sydney’s Circular Quay — in pictures – Spider-Man lookalikes descended on Circular Quay on Tuesday for a one-day fan event marking the film’s Australian home release. Sony Pictures supplied a set of photographs showing costumed fans, themed games and the character meeting visitors beside the harbour.

This was a celebration of the film becoming available to buy or rent at home, not a new cinema premiere or an announcement that it is included in a streaming subscription. Sony’s Australian film page lists several digital retailers. TV Central has also covered a separate Spider-Man coffee promotion planned for Thursday 8 October; that is a different event from the Circular Quay gathering pictured here.

At the Sydney pop-up, visitors posed with Spider-Man and tested their reflexes in a Spidey-senses game. There was also a web-slinging competition and free red-and-blue Spider drinks. Fans arrived in their own Spider-Man outfits, turning the activation into a photo opportunity for both adults and children.

The game was one of the interactive stops at the pop-up. In Sony’s pictures, the web-themed challenge sits beside a cityscape backdrop where fans could strike their own superhero pose.

There was an added incentive to arrive dressed for the occasion. Sony says the first 50 costumed fans received limited-edition merchandise that is not available for purchase. The company also offered three major prizes: a poster signed by members of the film’s cast and creative team, a 75-inch Sony BRAVIA television and a PlayStation 5. The release did not identify the winners.

The colourful Spider drinks gave the day a distinctly Australian touch. Sony’s photos show children holding the themed drinks against the event’s Spider-Man backdrop, while other visitors joined the costume gathering and games.

Gabrielle Davies, Director of Marketing for Sony Pictures Television, said it was fantastic to see Sydney fans come together for their friendly neighbourhood hero. She described the event as a day of fun, prizes and moments fans could not buy. The film’s arrival at home means audiences can now revisit it through a digital purchase or rental.

Where Spider-Man: Brand New Day fits

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker as he fights crime in a world that no longer remembers him. As his old friends move on, Peter faces a change he may not be able to control and a threat to the people he loves.
