My Kitchen Rules: Jane and Shane’s pigeon test on Channel 7 – Jane and Shane have spent the instant restaurant round critiquing their rivals. On Monday, 12 October, the scrutiny turns to their own cooking when they host the next My Kitchen Rules dinner.

The timing gives the episode an unusually personal edge. In TV Central’s recap of the previous cook, Jane’s claim that Tiffany and Giancarlo were the first team to bring real flavour drew a sharp response from the table. Now the other teams can judge the standards she and Shane have demanded of them.

Channel 7’s preview promises a confronting pigeon dish and an egg course with an unpleasant surprise. It does not reveal the scores or the eventual outcome, so the question is whether the pair can back up their comments once their own plates arrive.

Jane and Shane face their My Kitchen Rules rivals

Jane has labelled earlier dishes ‘ugly’, ‘run of the mill’ and ‘one dimensional’. She remains confident in the menu she and Shane have planned. Shane is equally bullish, promising: ‘We’re gonna just smash it out of the park.’

Alisha and Deanne have heard some of the pair’s bluntest assessments. Alisha makes no secret of what she hopes to see when their rivals cook: ‘I would love for Jane and Shane to really just flop.’

That tension places the menu under pressure before the first course reaches the table. Pigeon may be the attention-grabbing ingredient, but the judges and guest teams will also have to decide whether the execution matches Jane’s high expectations. The egg dish adds another potential flashpoint, although Seven has kept the nature of its surprise under wraps.

When to watch on Channel 7 and 7plus

Jane and Shane’s instant restaurant airs at 7.30pm on Monday, 12 October. My Kitchen Rules continues at 7.30pm on Monday and Tuesday on Channel 7 and 7plus.
