Binge Upfront 2027: Wentworth: Halfway Home adds Rachel Griffiths and Sophie Lowe – Rachel Griffiths and Sophie Lowe have joined the cast of Wentworth: Halfway Home, the new Australian original drama now filming in Melbourne for BINGE, as part of Binge Upfront 2027.
The casting update adds fresh Australian star power to the next chapter of the Wentworth universe. The series is being positioned as both a continuation for long-time fans and a new story centred on life after prison.
They join returning favourites Katrina Milosevic as Boomer, Nicole da Silva as Franky Doyle and Kate Box as Lou Kelly. New cast members Alex King and Chenile Chandler are also part of the ensemble.
New Characters
Griffiths plays Moira, a glamorous new resident at Sal’s Halfway House. The character has been convicted of fraud after a high-society life collapsed following her husband’s death.
Lowe plays Sam, a people-pleasing former stalker now on parole. She has found stability at Sal’s, although the release says she carries a vengeful streak beneath the surface.
Griffiths said Moira was a delicious character to bring to life and would shake things up at the house. Daniel Monaghan described her casting as a major coup for the series.
A New Wentworth Chapter
Production on Wentworth: Halfway Home is underway in Melbourne. The series follows Boomer after she arrives at Sal’s Halfway House determined to gain custody of her daughter and build a new life.
However, when a body turns up, Boomer must work out who she can trust in a home full of ex-cons. The story asks whether staying out of prison may prove even harder than getting out.
Wentworth premiered on Foxtel in 2013, reimagining Prisoner. It went on to screen across more than 170 territories worldwide over eight seasons.
Wentworth: Halfway Home will premiere exclusively on BINGE and Foxtel in late 2026. For more BINGE stories, visit TV Central’s BINGE section. More information about watching is available at BINGE.
