The Agenda Setters Rugby League on Channel 7: Riccio reports rival interest in Peter O’Sullivan – Newcastle Knights recruitment chief Peter O’Sullivan is being pursued by the Brisbane Broncos and Parramatta Eels, according to David Riccio on The Agenda Setters Rugby League. Riccio described a developing contest for one of the game’s best-known roster builders, but no move or agreement has been confirmed.

For Knights supporters, the distinction matters. O’Sullivan remains identified by the club as its head of recruitment; Riccio’s report concerns interest from rival teams. It does not establish that he has accepted an offer, resigned or decided to leave Newcastle.

Corey Parker introduced the story as a developing one. Riccio said both Brisbane and Parramatta were trying to recruit O’Sullivan and expected the competition for him to intensify in the following week. He described O’Sullivan as an architect of the Knights roster.

Why Brisbane and Parramatta are interested

Riccio linked Brisbane’s interest to recruitment challenges, including retaining younger players. He said Parramatta also needed a stronger recruiting approach. Both clubs would therefore have an obvious reason to look at an experienced recruitment executive, although the specific terms of any approach have not been disclosed.

Luke Keary explained to viewers why the reported interest could be significant. He cited O’Sullivan’s work with the Sydney Roosters, Melbourne Storm, Dolphins and New Zealand Warriors before his role at Newcastle. Keary argued that people with a record of assembling competitive rosters are difficult to replace. Riccio agreed.

That background is part of the story, but it should not be confused with a confirmed appointment. The Channel 7 discussion supplied no official response from the Knights, Broncos, Eels or O’Sullivan. Until one of those parties confirms a change, the news is the reported pursuit, not a transfer.

The Agenda Setters Rugby League brings Corey Parker, Riccio, Aaron Woods and Keary together to discuss rugby league developments. The O’Sullivan report emerged during its Channel 7 discussion and is relevant well beyond Newcastle because two rival clubs were named.
