Tonight | The Tony Blair Story on ABC: the final episode follows Blair out of office – The three-part documentary ends with Tony Blair’s final years in Downing Street and the influence he retained afterwards. The Tony Blair Story airs Tuesday 6 October 2026 at 8.30pm on ABC and ABC iview.
The finale links the political cost of the Iraq war to Blair’s third election victory and eventual departure, rather than ending the story at the ballot box.
Blair’s final years in power
Weakened by the Iraq war, Blair endures a harsh dressing down from Vladimir Putin. The documentary follows the pressure surrounding him as international relationships and domestic politics shift.
Blair nevertheless fights through to a third successive election win. That victory does not settle the political struggle over his leadership.
The final episode tracks his forced exit from office and considers the continuing global influence of a former prime minister whose decisions remained contested long after he left Downing Street.
