NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league will return to Melbourne – The NFL return to Melbourne is set to continue. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league will be back after the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams played at the MCG.
Goodell spoke to Seven’s Cam Luke before the game. He said the response from fans, teams and players had made the visit an “experience of a lifetime”. The Commissioner also said the sport has a future in Australia.
“As you know, we don’t do these just as a one-off, so we’ll be back and we’re excited about it,” Goodell said. “We think there’s a great future here.”
NFL return to Melbourne
These comments are a strong vote of confidence in Melbourne’s place in the NFL’s international plans. Goodell highlighted the crowd of 100,000 at the MCG. He also noted the city’s passion for sport.
Seven and 7plus brought the game to Australian audiences live and free. In addition, Goodell said the build-up, ticket sales and partner interest had already made the event a success.
He added that the game could “open doors” to more games in Melbourne and other markets.
