Sonny Bill Williams and Paul Gallen clash 16 July – After a long simmering rivalry between dual-code icon Sonny Bill Williams and and NRL legend Paul Gallen, the pair finally came face to face at the official weigh-in for tomorrow’s must-see showdown at Sydney Olympic Park.
A decade in the making, the atmosphere in the room was electric as both fighters stepped onto the scales before confronting each other in a tense face-off ahead of tomorrow night’s highly anticipated fight night.
Sonny Bill Williams said:
“This camp has gone great. Laser focused for tomorrow night and getting the job done.
”The beauty of this event is the work is done. It’s all on the line tomorrow night. This is the s**t that we love. Been through the trenches, I’m ready to go.”
Paul Gallen said:
“There’s no fire he could ignite in me that I haven’t already ignited in myself. Nobody can motivate me more than I can motivate myself.
“All the hard works done now. At my age, I don’t think there’s anything else I could have done to prepare better for this fight. I trained really well, sparred really well. I’m ready to go.”
Boxing legend Danny Green, part of tomorrow night’s boxing extravaganza, who had his say on the epic event.
“They want to make a statement and they want to stamp their authority on the sport of boxing. This is what the sport needs in Australia. I’m excited to be a part of it.”
All fighters weighed in ahead of their bouts, including the thrilling double title fight between Kris Terzievski and Troy Pilcher for the WBC Continental Bridgerweight title, and the WBA Oceania Bridgerweight title.
After weighing in, Terzievski gave his two cents ahead of defending his belts against the tough Pilcher.
“I hope he comes and brings it. We’re mates, but the line in the sand has been drawn, I’m doing this for my young family at home. And still (champion)!”
