Kyle Chalmers and Ben Armbruster tie for gold at Glasgow 2026 – Seven’s coverage of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games has captured Kyle Chalmers and Ben Armbruster sharing gold in the men’s 50m butterfly final.
The Australians finished in a dead heat, with Cam McEvoy taking bronze to complete another Australian clean sweep in the pool.
For Australian viewers, the result delivered one of the more unusual moments of Seven’s swimming coverage, with Chalmers and Armbruster inseparable in both the semi-final and the final.
Dead Heat In The Pool
Seven’s Giaan Rooney immediately called the result as a tie, while Alister Nicholson described it as a dead heat between Armbruster and Chalmers.
Nicholson said the pair had produced a Games record, telling them to share it and soak it up after the official result confirmed the dead heat.
Annie Williams noted how unlikely the result was after the two Australians had also tied in the semi-final.
Australian Clean Sweep
Rooney also pointed to McEvoy’s bronze medal as Australia completed the sweep of the men’s 50m butterfly podium.
Nicholson said Chalmers and Armbruster were inseparable on the wall, delivering a finish that took the breath away.
