Georgia Godwin leads Australia to artistic gymnastics team gold at Glasgow 2026 – Georgia Godwin, Kate McDonald, Ruby Pass, Breanna Scott and Emily Whitehead have won gold for Australia in the artistic gymnastics women’s team final at Glasgow 2026.
The team spoke with Seven’s Xander McGuire after Johanna Griggs and Matt White announced the result during Seven’s Commonwealth Games coverage.
For Australian viewers, the win broadened the Games’ early medal story beyond the pool. It also gave Seven and 7plus Sport another strong Australian team moment as the opening weekend continued.
Australia back on top
Matt White said the result put Australia back on the top step of the podium after a run of silver and bronze medals at recent Commonwealth Games.
Godwin, a senior figure in the team, added another medal to her Commonwealth Games tally, while 19-year-old Ruby Pass made her Games debut.

Team support stands out
Kate McDonald praised the team’s support for one another and said competing together had been a joyful experience.

Godwin said her teammates were a major reason she came back after injury, adding that the chance to compete with them again had helped drive her return.
