The series charts the crazy tales, trials and tribulations of one of cinema’s most recognisable auteurs. It follows Tarantino from his roots as a humble video store clerk to one of today’s most ambitious writer-directors.
Along the way, it looks at the ups and downs of making movies with big ideas, big budgets and an even bigger personality.
A revenge saga ten years in the making
Tonight’s episode, the fourth of six, goes behind Kill Bill. The idea grew from a shared love of kung-fu movies between Tarantino and Uma Thurman.
Together, they came up with a revenge saga inspired by martial arts and exploitation cinema. However, it took nearly 10 years to fully realise.
The result became Tarantino’s most ambitious movie yet, eventually released in two volumes.
Kill Bill Volume 2 follows on Tuesday
Fans can follow the documentary with the film itself. Kill Bill Volume 2 screens on SBS 2 on Tuesday 3 November at 8.30pm.
Both the documentary series and Kill Bill Volume 2 will be available to stream free on SBS On Demand.
